This time, I work on controls of the plasma that generates EUV light that etches structures on a piece of silicon that houses billions of transistors and stuff that give life to your precious iPhone (or Android...) I worked at ASML in the Netherlands in the high-powered laser performance team to help them achieve and refine EUV technology.Developer of the proprietary image processing algorithm for high-powered laser systems used in ASML's light source machines.Developer of various diagnostic tools to help with performance issues of high powered laser systems.Developer of algorithm that measures the high-frequency laser energy using photoelectromagnetic hardware.Provide functional requirements and guidance to complete software designs.Consultant to other related functionalities to improve their designs.Troubleshooting and customer support.

Worked on ASML's high powered seed laser module project that includes: - development of diagnostic tools for system status, system metric performance, and calibration, - development of error logging for diagnostic purposes, - devising test plans for subsystems and software, - bench testing the software and interfaces, - developing procedures for system operation, - maintaining an image processing algorithm (written in C++), - supporting prototype systems regarding electronics, hardware, software and control algorithms, - providing training for colleagues.

Greater San Diego Area

Being an intern at Cymer who manufactures light sources for semiconductor lithography, I aided the design of the control system that regulates the energy and power required for the laser beams to produce tin plasma that emits EUV light of a wavelength of 13.5nm. The project involved:- physical modeling and grey-box identification (by various experimental designs) of the CO2 laser that amplifies laser pulses and prediction of power using the Kalman filter.- development and tuning a system of 4 independent PI controllers to regulate the laser pulse energy and peak power by modulating pulse width and height. The 4 PI controllers were later decoupled using static decoupling to alleviate their effect on one another. The control system was implemented on the actual EUV (Extreme Ultra Violet) lithography equipment.

I was under the supervision of Professor Robert Bitmead at MAE department of UCSD to work on the topic of power control of a mobile wireless communication system. - Developed a stochastic dual adaptive control approach using dynamic programming algorithm to solve the problem of mobile wireless power control. - Analyzed statistical properties of the signal-to-noise ratio estimate in wireless communication systems. - Acquired knowledge in various controls engineering areas through academic courses such as controls theory and design, data analysis and signal processing.
