I focused on building and scaling web applications with Ruby on Rails, ReactJS, managing databases with MySQL, and improving performance using Redis, Sidekiq for background job monitoring. I deployed services with Kubernetes and kept everything running smoothly by monitoring with tools like Honeycomb and Rollbar. I also used Metabase to track key metrics and helped streamline our deployment processes with CI/CD pipelines. It was a hands-on role that gave me a lot of experience with cloud infrastructure and microservices architecture.

I helped build out and improved features of the product with Elixir / Phoenix and Postgres. I had much fun learning and applying Elixir and Phoenix in the first year. In the second year working here, I helped improve the performance of the app in several places and introduce new programming techniques and best practices in Elixir to the dev team. iPhone app development using Objective-C. Maintained the company's WordPress sites in PHP. Created Java programs to monitor the company's advertisements.

Implemented programs in C++, .NET to integrate with haptic devices including: Omni (www.sensable.com) to help autism children to improve eye-hand and motor coordination. Children could practice to touch and feel the virtual objects in the computer screen and mentally coordinate their movements with different effects. By the end of that summer, most of the children we worked with could button their shirts and tie their shoes on their own.
