In this role I am the only full time member of the marketing team and as such, most responsibilities fall on my shoulders. I solely run all three social media accounts - Twitter, Instagram and Facebook including making content for these accounts via applications like Canva and Photoshop. I also write up and send out press releases to maintain relationships with local news and get our arts venue out there to maintain profit and engagement with extended audiences even outside of Didcot. I also liaise with schools, booking them in for workshops and conversing with them to find out how we can get the younger generation involved at our level. Another part of this job is creating e-mails for our 7000+ database of customers, including a monthly newsletter and genre specific e-mails created on Dot Digital.

I took the opportunity to expand my skillset during the COVID-19 pandemic by temporarily working with the Communications team at South Oxfordshire and Vale District Councils. This role had me managing projects on a larger scale than usual, creating content for their various social media platforms, writing press releases and information for the public in a much more formal manner than I had previously in my Arts based role. This role really had me utilise my creativity, designing and producing lots of materials from logos, leaflets, posters, social media campaigns, information packs and more. I have been liaising with more teams too and have been given even more responsibilities as the head of many projects.

This job involves being head of social media, newsletters and communications with the general public. Since the launch of the new Abbey Cinema I have been at the helm of marketing materials including composing newsletters, creating posters and interesting social media posts to produce sales. I also work as a team member whilst taking on these jobs so I have an extensive experience of talking with customers face to face and handling queries with ease.

My position in this job required being the spokesperson and frontman for an array of our student union's events and campaigns. This involved handing out flyers and talking to strangers, spreading the word face to face with students on campus and in the city. I also had to manage the union's social media feeds on Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram to make sure it was up to date and people could find out more about us. One of the most exciting times for me working as a marketing assistant for the union was getting over 3000 votes in our union vote for president in my final year at university with the help of several other marketing assistants - this was a huge moment for us all and meant I helped break a union record.

During my volunteering placement I successfully helped make a promotional event for the museum via social media. I also worked often in the café, this included preparing lunches, teas and coffees to the standard of the café. This also included manning the tills and cleaning the areas where food was made and served efficiently.
