    As a Research Assistant and Community Guide for Project GRIT through the Morehouse School of Medicine Student Research Training Program. This study is a randomized controlled trial in which 148 African American women diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The study examines the impact of the GRIT intervention on self-report and objective outcome measures relevant to clinical practice (i.e., mental health, cardiovascular health). As a Research Assistant I have expanded my knowledge of the principles and ethics of research design. I benefited from this opportunity as I prepared for graduate school, by developing a meaningful behavioral science research experience and a strong mentor-student relationship.

AHS has paired her well with departments and projects that are conducive to her career and social justice interest. • Administratively, I worked on various initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion across the system, including:-Diversity pipeline internship program -Addressed issues within the public health system, magnified by COVID-19-Exposure to data instruments used to identify and address health disparities and social determinants of health -LGBTQ+ Standards of Care system wide -D & I improvement metric (DiversityInc & Disability IN)In addition, I gained valuable exposure to the numerous data instruments used to identify and address health disparities and social determinants of health across the systems hospitals and the community, with a goal of providing equitable health outcomes. • Clinically, I spent time at Chilton Medical Center shadowing in the:-Emergency Department-Heart Success Program-Family Health Clinic-Crisis Intervention-Patient ExperienceAt Overlook Medical Center I shadowed Dr. Peter Bolo, the Chairman of the Psychiatry Department, along with Dr. Haizhi Wang, Dr. Christopher Montes, and Dr. Suhey Franco in the inpatient Psychiatric Department. By shadowing I was able to see how quality clinical care delivery and patient experiences are prioritized across various clinical settings. My experiences have been conducive to developing her understanding of the intricate relationship between administrative and clinical aspects and emphasis on why healthcare is a collaborative team sport.
