Project Topic: Demand Forecasting and Inventory Control for Spare Parts for Signalling and Telecoms.Focused on improving fill rates to prevent maintenance work delays and reducing purchasing costs with regard to the stock management of spare parts: • Developed a forecasting mechanism for practitioners in order to make it easy to select the most appropriate forecasting method when considering different demand patterns. • Suggested an alternative ordering system through which order quantities are optimised in line with total cost of ownership. • Established an inventory configuration decision framework, which helps to determine whether centralisation or decentralisation is most effective.For additional research findings, considering practical applicability under the current business environment: • Introduced the use of NARX Neural Networks for forecasting activities. • Suggested a S&OP process framework to improve supply chain operational performance.
