I am responsible for the payroll operations for over 21,000 management & union employees with a staff of 36 using SAP. I am coming up on my 5 year anniversary with Amtrak and I wanted to share with you what an exciting journey this has been. In my short time we moved the union payrolls of 17,000 employees from weekly to bi-weekly, created a statement to show the union employees how their retro was calculated, reduced the employee advance account from over $1m to less than $25k, automated by outsourcing the 4,000 garnishments to ADP to ensure they were being handled accurately and timely, sent the W2s to ADP for printing since they handled our payroll taxes anyway. We stopped printing all 21,000 pay statements (which was a $250k annual savings) along with the fact we no longer allow live checks. To accommodate those employees with no bank accounts we offer pay cards thru MyAline and we use iPAY which was very well received as the employees have their pay statements and W2s at hand 24/7/365. My 7 payroll processors answer over 11,000 calls in a month (20 working days) with a SLA of 24 hours. We have gone from over 1,000 off cycle checks monthly to less than 200 per month.I am most proud of my team. They studied for their FPC test thru lunch and learns that we provided and all 14 of 14 that took the test passed on the first try. We have 4 more new hires and the first 2 passed with the 2nd 2 taking theirs this spring. The first 14 is now starting the lunch and learns for their CPP, what a fantastic team I have. One of the perks for my processing team is they work 4-10 hour days with rotating Wednesday or Friday off. My management staff are allowed to tele work 1 day per week if they so choose. . This gives great customer service, great staff moral and you know what they say Happy Staff/Happy Sr Director.I serve on the Presidents Service and Safety Award committee for the last 4 years with winners in each year,
