Miodrag Drakulic has 28 years of professional experience; for the last 16 years he was engaged mainly on research, development and design of civil engineering technical systems, especially road and rail ventilation systems, smoke removal systems and numerical modeling of fire and smoke propagation in complex buildings. He was main designer of the ventilation systems for more than 50 road tunnels in Croatia and Region (Sv. Rok, Mala Kapela, Brinje, Grič, Sveta Tri Kralja, etc.). He was also main designer of the ventilation system for numerous tunnels in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Corridor Vc) and in Montenegro (motorway section Uvac – Matesevo, Kotor City bypass, tunnel Ras, etc.). Among the largest projects is ventilation system design for tunnels on the lowland railroad Zagreb – Rijeka, including participation in Aerodynamic Study with HBI Cons. Engineers (CH).Beside these areas, he has been engaged on design of smoke removal systems for large sport objects (Sport hall “Arena Zagreb”, “Spaladium Arena” Split and Sport hall “Stožice” Ljubljana, Slovenia), including CFD numerical modeling of smoke propagation. Parallel with previous activities, he was also participated in industrial objects design (Bio ethanol factory in Osijek, CMC Steel Mill in Sisak, etc.).He was the author of trigeneration thermal energy supply concept for New Zagreb Airport, which is in preliminary designing phase. From 2007 he is a lecturer on Postgraduate study of fire engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Zagreb, with courses “Fire Thermodynamic” and “Active Systems of Fire Protection”.
