Miranda Dixon Email and Phone Number
When I left school, I had little direction or ambition; awkwardly tall and lacking in confidence, I did not believe that I had much to offer the world. However, I quickly discovered in myself the ability to adapt to new situations and learn from each opportunity that life presented me, as a result, I have been able to move successfully from one job/employment sector to another, often with little prior experience, but always with an enthusiastic readiness to learn. I consider myself privileged to have worked with so many incredible colleagues during my career, finding managers, role models and mentors who were willing to invest time and faith in me, supporting me to broaden my knowledge and challenge my abilities. My journey has provided me with a wide range of life skills - resilience, positivity, courage, a willingness to risk failure – and I feel fortunate, not only have learned these lessons, but to have been able to share this understanding with my own children, the young people that I have worked with over the years, and many friends and colleagues. My experiences in the education sector have allowed me to further develop my range of skills, and certainly tested my resilience! It has been an incredibly challenging but rewarding journey that has given me the self-belief to branch out and seek new opportunities. On reflection, I realise that I have always had a desire to ‘make a difference’, to have a positive impact or influence on the lives of others. I always quickly sought out and became involved in work social clubs, organising outings, fundraisers, and Christmas parties. When my children arrived, this enthusiasm transferred to support of the parent teacher associations for their schools. I quickly, and surprisingly, found an aptitude for bringing people together, to work towards a common goal and to achieve results.I am now looking forward to embracing a future role in the charity or social sector, with an initiative that seeks to improve the lives, experiences and opportunities for adults or young people, either in the UK or elsewhere.I am particularly drawn to the role of Programme Officer, as I feel that this plays to my organisational, communication and people skills, but I would be open to transferring my skills to any area that supports the organisation’s vision.
