Travel Consultant & Marketing Assistant
CurrentI love to travel and after my OE, I was certain I wanted to land a job in the travel industry. I took the initiative and went for a more traditional approach, to meet face to face at various travel agencies with my CV. My role started by carrying out basic administrative duties and creating E-newsletters for the first 6 months, part time. This included data entry, banking, ordering brochures and stationery. Taking calls, all the small jobs. Which lead me into my current position as a Travel Consultant. Somehow you are expected to know everything about everywhere. But we all know that isn't possible. I am honest and open with customers and endeavour to provide the correct and relevant information required for their potential travel plans. Being able to efficiently source accurate information and relay that to customers is key. This requires a level of thinking outside of the box, effective communication skills and computer literacy. Travel can be very complex in terms of putting together an itinerary that has smooth connections and that meets the clients criteria, all at an agreeable cost. Customer experience is most valuable. Therefore, I am adaptable in my approach to ensure each individual clients needs are met and they feel cared for. I aim to always give my best under any circumstance! When things don't go to plan with your travels, you call your Travel Consultant and I do work well under pressure. In addition I do some marketing whether it is emails, social media, flyers, posters, event collateral, organize art for print in the local newspaper and write the script for radio.Up until now at helloworld Travel Whangarei, I've had to challenge myself. This has enabled me to further develop my soft skills and learn completely new job specific skills. For example working with our multiple interface systems. However, I am a fast learner and keen to learn.
