Currently the Technical Team Manager for sustainability within Scottish Water’s Zero Emissions Team, I focus on mainstreaming the enhancement of biodiversity across our landholdings. I support carbon sequestration through woodland creation, and operational carbon footprinting. I'm also involved in wider sustainability issues. I started my water industry career undertaking flow & load surveys in the sewers of Wales. Subsequently I was a sampler on trunk mains and at customers’ taps; designed and led pre- & post-renovation assessments of water networks; and undertook surveys of drinking water compliance in public buildings and in new-build houses. I've also been involved with water efficiency, implementing the Water Framework Directive, and phosphorus in wastewater which led to me running a national public awareness campaign. I've now been working in the water industry for almost three decades, and retain an interest in all things sustainable (with a particular fondness for trees - I have a mini tree nursery in my garden).
