My time spent with Buckle was truly life changing. It was one of the most difficult and most rewarding job experience’s I’ve had by far. I was challenged to be 1% better every single day; because after 100 days, you’re 100% better than you were. The Management Training program challenged me to take on every aspect of the business, to learn how to thrive and build a business from the ground up. It gave me the opportunity to travel all over (5 cities and 4 states!) and learn from amazing leaders from all over the country who were true Game Changers! As the Visual Merchandising Leader at Target, I oversaw the visuals for the entire store, focusing on apparel and accessories, home and domestic, trend runs, one spot, and seasonal. I challenged my team members’ visual skills by having them work in departments they didn't feel most confident in, and encouraged them to use what merchandise they had to create looks, without fear. I felt empowered to be a leading store in sales for the district.

While as a sales associate at the FIDM Scholarship Store, I was able to spend my time merchandising the store. My managers encouraged practicing this skill set, as it was apart of my major. Since the store rarely had multiple of the same items, I spent time analyzing the kinds of merchandise we carried, and created seasonal looks that showcased different kinds of outfits that we had many similar options for (such as multiple dresses of one brand, or many kinds of rompers from various brands). I encouraged upselling by placing accessories on the mannquins. I saw first hand the impact visuals had on sales and I formed a bond with visual merchandising - it was a way to make my creative side happy.
