Head Of Applications And Data

West End, England, Gb

Bi Lead

London, Gb

I performed a range of BI analysis, development, support and governance tasks that resulted in the successful delivery of a large number of Business Objects based BI solutions. The value delivered through my implementation of BI, allowed users to make key business decisions and resulted in Business Objects being listed as a business critical application. I worked in successful large and small project teams, all with varying complexities of data models and reporting requirements. My success at LGIM was largely due to my attention to detail and flexibility, when working under pressure against tight deadlines, whilst maintaining a positive attitude at all times.

Mar 2012 - Jun 2013

• Relationship management with external BI providers, working to ensure excellent application support.• Designed and documented a BI Strategy used to implement and support all BI development• Designed and managed the Business Objects environment, supporting over 400 direct users and 1000+ critical and high priority reports on a daily basis.• Managed the day-to-day support of Business Objects, within defined SLAs.• Supported comprehensive BI reporting functions, whilst retaining user and data security within IT.• Created detailed documentation of the security model configuration and usage of Business Objects across all departments.

Technical Architecture Consultant

London, Gb

At Blueprint Management Systems Ltd (BPMS) I had the title of a Technical Architecture Consultant. This role was ideal for me as it allowed me to work on a large number of different projects with roles such as Technical Architecture lead (planning, installing, configuring and documenting Business Objects (6.5, XI, XIR2 and XI 3.0) implementations and migration projects. These projects all included Security Model design and build which would vary depending each client's requirements. With the other members of the Technical Architecture team, I compiled various technical documents that included step by step installation guides and migration paths for each individual client. These documents were continuously expanded upon and became a vital part of our project deliverables. In my previous job roles I worked as a Universe Designer and Report Developer, I often used these skills as part of the Technical Architecture analysis and design work, and also when a consultant was required for specific Universe/Report design and builds. Most notably I worked at a number of very different clients (including: Investment Banks, Entertainment industry, Local Government, etc) building universes and reports for their business analysts. Due to my extensive experience in report design and build I also taught public and private courses of the Business Objects FastTrack course (1 day courses that teach users how to build, edit and use Desktop Intelligence and Web Intelligence report applications). My adaptability at BPMS was evident throughout the many projects I have worked on, and I would often spend the duration of a week working at a number of different clients working in a variety of capacities.

Nov 2005 - Jan 2010

Business Objects Developer\It Consultant

My role involved working with the other Business Objects and SQL Server /Oracle Developers to develop data warehouse structures and universes for clients. I also played a key position in requirements gathering at client sites. In particular for The Guinness Trust Housing Association, where I aided the design of the initial star schema and universe design based on aggregate tables, in order to simplify the universe for non-technical users at The Guinness Trust.I was part of a two person team who maintained “The Managed Service” where Customer One designed, developed and maintained a business intelligence infrastructure for clients using the Business Objects Web Intelligence (Webi) product. I also produced a universe and reports for management use in order to monitor “The Managed Service” with regard to usage figures. These reports were included within monthly updates to senior management personnel within client organisations. With all universe creations I produced detailed documentation inclusive of data mapping reports and example Business Objects reports in WebI and full client Reporter. My final task was to write an XI migration document for Customer One Ltd, to be implemented with Release 2.

Jun 2005 - Nov 2005

Mis Analyst Developer

Crawley, Gb

Initially I attended a Business Objects course, which certified me as Business Objects Reporter. I was then assigned the role of a MIS Support Team member, which involved responding to incidents and change requests logged by Business Objects users across the company. After a short time I had the responsibility of performing the daily checklist, monitoring the MIS data warehouses and confirming that all data loads had been processed correctly. After my initial six months in the MIS team, I was seconded to Marketing, at the request of the Marketing Manager, for three months. Whilst there, I increased the Marketing Teams’ use of MIS by 65%. I designed and scheduled ad-hoc reports for the Marketing Managers and saved around 20 man-hours each month by automating a large number of monthly reports. On my return to the MIS team I produced a document detailing how the Marketing department functioned, and how improvements could be made by the MIS team to increase their work flow. My involvement with the Marketing team helped to build an excellent relationship between the MIS and Marketing teams.Once back within the MIS department I used Business Objects Designer to change existing data marts and develop new ones. I made many universe changes for various departments throughout the business. Before leaving Virgin Atlantic Airways Ltd, I documented all existing universes and completed my knowledge transfer to my replacement.
