About Miranda Smith

I act as the U.S. Agency for International Development's primary point of contact for biodefense policy issues. I have a diverse and extensive background in pharmacy, international relations, and national security, which enables me to provide strategic and technical guidance to various stakeholders, including the U.S. government, the World Health Organization, and international partners. As a former Senior Advisor and Team Lead at HHS, I led the coordination and collaboration on medical countermeasures, antimicrobial resistance, influenza, and preparedness in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. As an Air Force Veteran and a former Foreign Affairs Officer at the U.S. Department of State, I have advanced the U.S. government's goals and values in human rights, democracy, and governance in Asia and the Pacific. I hold a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, a Master of Science in International Relations and National Security Studies, and a Project Management Professional certification. I am passionate about enhancing global health security and resilience through innovation, partnership, and leadership.
