I am currently working at Dermatology Associates located in Johnson City, TN. It is 1 of 3 offices. The other 2 are located in Kingsport on West Stone Drive and Bristol on W. State Street. We have a total of 9 Physicians, 5 Nurse Practitioners and 2 Physician Assistants. I work if 3 of those Physicians and 3 of the Nurse Practitioners in the Johnson City office. My title is the Triage Nurse. I am a Certified Medical Assistant and have been since 1/2017. I have been with D.A. since 8/2015. I started out as a CNA, but with the experience of working in health care for a total of 4years, I was able to take the test and become a CMA. I love interacting with patients and getting to know them. I have been the Triage Nurse since 8/2016. My position consist of providing biopsy results, sending in medication refills and new prescriptions, doing prior authorizations for medications, scheduling procedures, entering biopsy results once signed off by Provider, communicating via email or task with Providers in regards to patient needs/ concerns, referring patients when needed, contacting patients when blood work is received and signed off by Provider along with treatment plans. I also work on the floor when needed and assist Dr. Sanders with surgeries. Our surgeries are not very invasive, we use local anesthesia (Lidocaine with Epinephrine) to numb area that is being excised, dissolving dermal sutures, and epidermal sutures. Before starting at D. A. in 2015, i worked at Holston Valley Medical Center as a Patient Care Tech from 9/2013- 7/2015, and getting my CNA license in 1/2015. As a P.C.T. my job duties consisted of assisting RNs with patients needs, baths, assisting patients with meals, assisting patients with Range of Motion, assisting patients that needed help with personal hygiene (ie brushing teeth/ dentures, bathing, brushing/ coming hair, putting on clothes), walking with patient if needing assistance, keeping patient surroundings safe to avoid accidents.
