Profile bio

About Miranda Egan

I am a passionate Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist. Fundamental to my methodology is that both you and I are equals working to find a mutually workable solution to the presented issues. All of us at times go through a time in our life where we are subject to difficulties or challenges of one type or another. It takes courage to seek support outside of your family or from people other than close friends and I am understanding of that. I am a qualified Psychotherapist/Counsellor and PACFA clinical member with broad experience in private practice, governmental organisations and charities. I have worked with many different clients including children, male and female individuals and couples and know that every presenting issue is different and unique.I specialise in addressing impacts of sexual assault, repairing the self after trauma, toxic relationships and disordered eating. I also have a strong interest in supporting people through the journey of motherhood, before, during and after pregnancy. I approach each case from a non-judgmental exploratory platform, helping you to take charge of the process and develop a working contract in which we can evaluate progress and review change. How many sessions you require are down to you and may depend on the type of issue you want to work on.Good counselling can facilitate people with the chance to explore feelings and situations leading to an understanding about why certain behaviours are not working in life, why a relationship may be unhealthy or to take stock of a difficult period.Psychotherapy is in-depth work and may uncover attachment injuries. The trauma-informed framework focuses on empowerment and authenticity which repairs the attachment injury, unlearn unhelpful coping strategies and develop new ones that are effective. You will also learn how to process painful memories in a safe environment that empowers you to let go of pain and past shame. It is effective if you are committed. You will find that the best investment you make is the investment in yourself. Sometimes, all we need is someone to help you along the way. The first step is admitting that to yourself and picking up the phone or checking out my website. www.untilnowtherapy.com.au

Counsellor/Psychotherapist

Private Practice

Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia

I hold a private practice on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. I offer Counselling to those who have found the need to go further and explore an issue that is presenting difficulties for them. I believe that Counselling is very individual, so I put an emphasise on fit with the client. I recommend to clients that when they meet their counsellor they really reflect on whether the counsellor is right for them, if there isn't a fit then it's not going to work. However, if a client feels safe and trusting then good work can commence. I am always amazed at the speed at which resilience and reflective skills build when this is in place. Those that look for support are doing the right thing. An investment in self is never wasted. Please contact me for further information and rates. Please note my qualifications are:Advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling BACP Accredited, certificate of excellence (2007)Post Grad Dip in Counselling Children & Adolescents (2012)Grad Dip Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy (2015)Masters in Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy(2015) present.
