The Amniotic Fluid Embolism Foundation, a non-profit organization founded in 2008, quickly united the voices of families, survivors, medical professionals and researchers to call for greater awareness and resources to reduce the threat of amniotic fluid embolism (AFE). Our collective efforts have resulted in an internationally recognized research program on AFE, highly sought after educational programming for healthcare providers, and a worldwide network of support groups and resources for those impacted by an AFE.We are committed to identifying the cause, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of amniotic fluid embolism and bring our information and resources to healthcare providers and impacted families through our education and support programs. We also strive to be the light guiding those impacted by an AFE through their physical and emotional recovery as they navigate their way forward.Prior to our establishment, families and healthcare providers impacted by an AFE had nowhere to turn to for information and support, left in the dark about what had happened and how to move forward. Since turning on our lights and shining our efforts into understanding this rare condition, we’ve helped tens of thousands of people gain knowledge, understanding, and support through some of their darkest days. We will continue to be the light as long as it takes to end AFE.

CMQCC is devoted to eliminating preventable maternal death and injury and promoting equitable maternity care in California by bringing resources, tools, measures, and quality improvement techniques to providers, administrators, and public health leaders. This is a long term collaborative effort of many organizations and individuals with sponsorship of the California Department of Public Health (Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Program), the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC), California HealthCare Foundation (CHCF) and the Centers for Disease Control. We are over 250 clinicians, public health leaders, key payors and public representatives all devoted to improving childbirth outcomes.

The Mission of the Institute for Perinatal Quality Improvement (PQI) is to eliminate preventable perinatal morbidity and mortality and end racial and ethnic disparities.

Formed in 2011, the Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care is a multidisciplinaryentity convened by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. It brings partner,subspecialty, and patient organizations together with the central goal of improving health carefor all women.The Council on Patient Safety in Women’s Health Care’s purpose is to reduce harm to patients by fostering: Investigation to better understand the causation of harm Programs and tools to implement patient safety initiatives Education to promote patient safety Dissemination of patient safety information A health care culture of respect, transparency, and accountabilityThe Council in comprised of an elected executive committee, voting members from each of the16 core member organizations, two patient advocates, a junior fellow representative, and thesitting chair of the College’s Committee on Patient Safety and Quality Improvement. In additionto its voting members, the Council also has an Industry Forum that serves in an advisorycapacity and is designed identify and maximize common interests in women’s health carethrough collaboration.
