6 lessons I have learned about myself while working my way up from Administrative Assistant to Chief Operating Officer over the last decade in real estate development and construction, global manufacturing and logistics, and interior design and project management:1. While building a high-performing team of 15 unique roles, it became the most rewarding part of my day to uplift others, nudge them toward their strengths, and take pride in their growth. I have the versatility to step into various capacities in order to accomplish a team effort.2. I enjoy organizing, analyzing, and presenting data in order to make informed decisions. I can also trust my gut instinct on a tight schedule and budget.3. I take care to scrutinize both the fine details and the big picture. I made it my kuleana (sense of personal responsibility) to clarify, elevate, and uphold the dignity of the brand in refining external communications as well as internal processes.4. I value the exposure to advanced techniques, materials, concepts, and approaches which I have had the privilege to access through travel to Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Italy, and the United States, collaborating internationally across cultures, languages, and time zones.5. I have learned to reframe “office politics” as “giving ideas the best chance of success.” I believe in harnessing diverse perspectives and intellectual curiosity to achieve innovative solutions and drive continuous improvement.6. I have endurance. I understand forecasting in cyclical markets and scaling operations over time. I can focus on long-term strategic initiatives which sometimes take years to grow to fruition.Going forward, I aim to join a mission-driven organization where I can truly make a difference, in alignment with my personal values of integrity, compassion, and wonder.
