In a college of over 3300 undergraduates, 2100 graduate/professional students, and 200+ faculty, provides leadership and management for the offices of Engineering Undergraduate Admissions, Engineering Academic Advising, Engineering Registrar, Engineering Learning Initiatives, the Engineering Career Center, and the Office of Inclusive Excellence. Collaborates with the Dean, Associate Deans, and college staff and faculty to identify and prioritize educational and student support goals, particularly undergraduate programs and initiatives. Oversees the administrative functions of student services including personnel, finance, facilities, administrative support, computer services, fund-raising, marketing, and alumni and corporate relations. Facilitates collaboration of student services with related functional areas of the college such as undergraduate professional practice programs, departmental undergraduate program support and, graduate and professional student services. Leverages institutional efforts and creates cross-campus partnerships to achieve mutual goals, and represents the College of Engineering on University committees and advisory groups.

Directs a dean of students office in a division of ~1300 graduate students. Provides leadership and strategic direction for a broad range of services and programs to enrich the overall student experience. Oversees a range of student services including admissions and recruitment, student records and registration, disbursement of financial aid, monitoring of degree requirements, convocation, disability accommodations, discipline, and crisis response. Serves at the University level on task forces, standing committees and advisory groups, and participates in the on-going development and evaluation of divisional and University-wide student policies, services, and systems.

Serves as principal deputy for the Dean of Students in Humanities. Manages the office's operations including budget and supervision of staff. Oversees admissions, registration and student records, fellowship competitions and financial aid, and convocation for the Humanities Division (approximately 900 graduate students). Advises graduate students on a wide range of administrative, financial, and personal issues, including disciplinary and emergency matters and crisis intervention. Guides the divisional graduate student council. Provide consultative support to staff and faculty on student related policies and procedures to ensure all matters related to degree requirements are adhered to.

Served one week per quarter as a contact for students seeking assistance and support for bias-related incidents that occurred on campus.

Advised students and provided consultative support to faculty and staff on university and divisional policies and procedures. Managed day-to-day administration of $30 million in student financial aid accounts; quarterly registration and convocation for the division’s 1100 students, including communication of policies and procedures, enforcement of regulations, oversight of staff, and coordination with central offices; maintenance of student records; special student affairs projects, including development of web content. Served on university and divisional hiring committees, divisional web development group, and the university software test groups.

Served one week per month as the University’s primary emergency contact for student victims of sexual assault. Provided information, explained procedures at the police station or the emergency room, gave general information about the criminal justice system and University disciplinary procedures, and provided referrals for counseling and other services such as legal advocacy. Worked with area deans of students and other University staff to make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes in academic and living arrangements requested by the student. Trained as sexual assault survivor advocate through the Illinois Rape Victim Advocacy program.

Served two weeks per quarter as the primary emergency response coordinator for the University. Ensured that the full resources of the university were available to and working for students, provided information, explained procedures of the police station or hospital emergency room, and/or, as appropriate, notified resident heads, area dean of students, friends, or family about a situation, monitored cases to make sure that adequate support continued to be made available after a crisis had passed.

Administered a one-year intensive master’s program of approximately 100 students. Served as primary student liaison, and planned and organized all program events, for current and prospective students and alumni. Provided information about the program and the university. Advised students on procedures from matriculation through graduation. Designed and managed marketing materials, including mailings, brochure, and website. Trained and supervised interns. Coordinated all activities of the program staff. Managed daily operation of offices and lounge. Maintained the program website, databases, and listserves.
