For most of my time at MDPI I was Managing Editor of the International Journal of Turbomachinery, Propulsion and Power (IJTPP); the journal of the European Turbomachinery Society, EUROTURBO. As Managing Editor, my role was to assist the authors, peer-reviewers and Editors of the journal during article processing as well as monitoring the journal's numbers (submissions, papers published, processing times and citations) and promoting the journal among the community. As assistant editor I processed papers and collaborated with several MDPI journals: Molecules, Materials, Matemathical and Computational Applications and Marine Drugs. I mostly coordinated the peer-review and production process of manuscripts submitted to the journals; including looking for suitable referees, collecting review reports, communicating with external editors and editing papers to get them ready to be published. I was also Section Managing Editor of the Organometallic Chemistry section in Molecules, so I worked together with the Editorial Board Members to keep expanding the section. In February 2018 I started in my position as Group Leader, my main task was to coordinate and assist the editors in the office who worked with journals managed from our offices in China, I really enjoyed helping my colleagues in their daily work and doing my best to make them as confident and comfortable in their roles. Additionally, I occasionally represented the company at scientific conferences and meetings.

My Doctoral Thesis was titled "Interfacial Chemistry of Catechol-based Nanostructures". For my thesis project we focussed in the obtention of nanoscale catechol-based systems and the study of their properties. For that, a multidisciplinary work was carried out which included the synthesis of new organic compounds, the preparation of nanostructures and the use of advanced microscopies and lithographic techniques.The role of packing density and orientation of catechol moieties in the interfacial properties of catechol-terminated SAMs was studied at the local scale using an AFM tip or, alternatively, magnetic nanoparticles. On the other hand, the synthesis of catechol-based polymers in confined volumes was performed using direct-write AFM-assisted lithography. With that, we demonstrated the viability of using this technique to place functional amorphous materials on specific areas of surfaces. Laboratory For Inorganic Colloidal Nanocrystals And Applications

During the autumn of 2013 I spent almost three months at the University of Southampton working under the supervision of Dr. Antonios Kanaras, thanks to an STSM grant awarded through the Hybrid Interfaces Cost Action (MP1202). The aim of my stage in Southampton was to learn how to synthesize, functionalize and characterize gold nanoparticles of different sizes and using a variety of methods with the final goal of creating catechol-based SAMs on colloidal gold nanoparticles.

In my internship at the IAT, I worked under the supervision of Dr. Raul Herance in the synthesis of new precursors to 11C-labeled ligands for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans using basic organic synthesis and characterization techniques.
