About Miriam Brack

I’m a Swiss Art Director and Graphic Designer living in Chicago. I’m into type, arrows, exploring new things, and design that challenges the status quo. I like the small details and the big picture, structured information and playful concepts, the feel (& smell) of paper and the possibilities of the digital.Outside of design I’m a food enthusiast (but picky eater), cat lover, awkward dancer and believer in no such thing as too many books.At Digitec Galaxus AG I got to create and explore smart, unexpected advertisement and branding that dare to be different, witty and sometimes a little cheeky. Taking on an art direction role for some projects, I successfully conceptualized, designed and managed projects resulting in increased brand awareness and 2 design awards.At YAAY I learned to research, analyze and structure information and translate them into beautiful visualizations that elevate their message and comprehensibility; and I discovered my love for information graphics in the process.My bachelor thesis That Way to the Left is a systematic visual and semantic study of arrows exploring new forms and asking questions about the future of the sign. It was recognized with the the ADC Switzerland Student of the Year Award, AIGA 50 Books | 50 Covers, various shortlists and was featured in the Highlights Exhibition 2017 at the Zurich University of the Arts.
