In this internship position, I worked directly on the Equitable Redevelopment Plan for the Gwinnett Place Mall. After purchasing most of the abandoned mall in 2021, the Gwinnett County government committed to reinvigorate this mall site and transform it into a unique regional destination that is welcoming and serves Gwinnett residents. HR&A was contracted to support the County's vision to redevelop the mall site equitability, so it could constitute opportunity and prosperity for the diverse communities surrounding the site, both long-established and new. The Equitable Redevelopment Plan serves as the roadmap to support the new vision for the Gwinnett Place Mall site. My role as the Community Outreach and Engagement Associate served to oversee and coordinate the engagement process for this Plan. I worked directly with the diverse Gwinnett County community, including County staff, and community-based organizations, during the project's planning process. Major highlights of the engagement work done with the team at HR&A and our Gwinnett outreach partners include engaging 1,300 respondents to complete the Reclaim Gwinnett Place Mall questionnaire, and organizing a Block Party at the mall site, where we heard from over 200 attendees about their needs and ideas for the redevelopment.

In this role my main tasks included organizing, informing and providing the community with a variety of information, services, events and resources during the 2020 elections, 2021 legislative session, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Most notable, I served as the co-chair of our DACA Teachers campaign where I would facilitate meetings and provide updates for different stakeholders, in English and Spanish. Also, I advocated to legislators on behalf of DACA recipients.

In this role I canvassed target homes with the goal of encouraging voters tovote in U.S. Senate runoff election on 1/5/21. I used the application MiniVAN to identify and actively update list of target homes.

In this role I cultivated member relationships and established new accounts and small loans. Through the company's equitable scope, we catered specifically to underbanked and underserved communities. For example, I supported the "Crece con HOPE" initiative which consisted of outreach to the large Latinx population in Little Rock, and communicated the importance of financial literacy and banking. During COVID-19, I was also part of the team that helped process PPP loans by screening applicants and their documents. Lastly, I represented the Credit Union at community meetings, public events and at internal and external visibility opportunities.
