Miriam Walsh is a curator and creative producer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Drawing from over a decade of professional experience within the arts and interdisciplinary practice, her research interests lie in the interface between art, society, the environment, health, and science. She has worked with ASCUS Art & Science since 2014, before which she curated a series of independent curatorial projects in Scotland and Ireland after her completing her MFA on the Art Space and Nature programme at Edinburgh College of Art. As an interdisciplinary creative facilitator and producer with a background in site specific visual arts projects, Miriam has a special interest in non traditional delivery of the arts within the public sphere. She has a background in creative learning programme development and practices, including a multitude of art-science crossover projects within her role at ASCUS Art & Science as well as learning programmes for care staff within an arts in health and arts and disability context through her previous work with Artlink Edinburgh and the Lothians. Through her work leading on the establishing of ASCUS Lab, she holds unique skills and experience in supporting BioArt and BioDesign practices. Collaboration is central to her methodologies as a creative facilitator and producer, encouraging and supporting inclusive out of the box thinking and discourse throughout the all stages of design, development and delivery. Her interests lie in exploring new ways of combining creative approaches with other disciplines.She has collaborated with a range of artists, designers and research scientists at different stages of their career and from different specialisms and backgrounds including but not limited to; poets, performers, photographers, filmmakers, illustrators, sculptors, writers, printmakers, ceramicists, installation artists, biologists, anatomists, physicists, chemists, biochemists, geneticists, geologists, neurologists and engineers.Her creative practice focuses on personal relationships to the environment and the creation of abstract narratives using light and space to physically disrupt and engage the viewer. Her work includes sculpture, multimedia installation, video, curatorial projects and creative workshops.
