I'm a brand strategist with 15+ years of experience in brand strategy, messaging, and naming. I'm passionate about launching and growing brands that effect social and environmental change. I'm a partner at In Other Words, a strategy and messaging consultancy that helps brands get clear, and get moving. We provide expert research and facilitation to get your team on the same page, create brand-level messaging that sticks, and cascade it through high-stakes communications. Our 100+ clients include Series A to mid-market B2B tech companies, public-sector entities, and consumer brands. My clients include global brands (Google, Meta, JD Power), growth-stage disruptors (Planet, Babylist, Tile), and public sector organizations (Spare the Air, SF Public Utilities Commission, La Cocina). We work directly with clients or in partnership with leading agencies (Landor, Liquid Agency, Emotive Brand and more). I have served as the Strategy Director for Noise 13 since 2015 and have worked on the in-house Brand Team at Okta. Previously, I was a Senior Consultant at Interbrand and VP of Business Development at VisionSpring, a global eye care nonprofit. In 2017 I co-founded Swing Left, which quickly went viral and is now a leading national political organization. I'm the mother of two strong-willed girls, a published poet and memoirist, and an aspiring novelist. When I'm not writing or brand strategizing, I'm hiking, reading novels about the interior lives of women, or dancing in the streets of Oakland with SambaFunk. I have an MBA in marketing from UCLA Anderson and a BA in anthropology and creative writing from Columbia University.
