A versatile, mature and capable content specialist, I provide content strategy and content management services to government, business and not for profits. I have been working with the written word in a professional capacity since 1994, and much longer than that for pleasure. Starting my professional writing career as a technical writer, internet-based roles followed as soon as web content became a thing. Early roles saw me embedded in ICT as content fell under the purview of the teams implementing the websites. More recently, my web content roles have mostly under a marketing umbrella, acknowledging the core communication role played by websites.Recent forays into content marketing have confirmed for me that I am actually happiest and most productive in web projects. A career path that features project-based contract roles also supports this preference. I can walk into a project environment, pick up the threads and be productive very quickly, providing leadership and mentoring as appropriate. I enjoy all aspects of stakeholder management including managing expectations, negotiating on behalf of the end user (UX, accessibility, workshops), facilitating solutions that meet the needs of the business, and planning and implementing content to complex requirements and tight deadlines within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience in the content, communications and technical aspects of the web make me a true content all-rounder. Content strategy, content planning, content accessibility and at the core of it of course is the writing. My love of precise writing in any form extends from project and governance documentation through to the web copy itself, I bring rigour and a real enjoyment of my work to every role. An ongoing interest in linguistics and creative writing has resulted in a Graduate Certificate in Applied Linguistics and a Masters in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne as well as publication of some short stories, some essays and reviews and a novel. For three stressful yet happy years I was the editor and publisher of the extempore journal and 5 other titles of work related to Australian jazz and improvised music. Specialties: content strategy and planning, web content for a range of audiences, web content project managementViews expressed on my personal LinkedIn Profile (this one) are my own, and do not necessarily represent those of employer/s or clients, past or present.
