Mirjam Karhu's research concerning oils started already in master’s thesis (chemistry) in which biodegradation of light fuel oils in different environmental conditions was studied. Literature survey of master’s thesis concerned wide review on treatment methods of contaminated soils and waters. Thus, strong interest concerning environmental protection started already in University. Latest work experience as Chemical manager in OHSE and Fire safety division gave vast hands-on knowledge concerning environmental management according to ISO 14001. International project work strengthened co-operation skills between whole supply chain and with stakeholders.
