Nederlands? Klik op het vak rechtsboven.The impact of the media has fascinated me as long as I can remember. What 'story' do the media tell us?How does that impact us? These are questions I ask as a researcher, lecturer and strategic advisor. In January 2018, I obtained a doctoral degree with my research on the framing of global poverty in the Dutch, Flemish and British media.I am dedicated to share my knowledge about media impact and framing with others. I help companies and organizations to get a better grip on the representation of 'their' topic in the public debate. I do this in several ways:► I study how issues are framed by various stakeholders, including the media► I analyze which frames organizations use and provide alternatives► I give guest lectures and presentations on media portrayals and framingMy research is not confined to global poverty; I also work, for example, on the framing of nuclear energy, gmo's and migration. It formed the basis of my Master's thesis for the study International Development at the University of Utrecht.Two years later, with Michel Knapen, I investigated the legal needs of the residents of Ndirande, the largest slum in Malawi. It was a study for the Micro Justice Initiative in The Hague.
