I am a Disability Support Worker with 10 years’ experience in the sector. I have completed the Diploma in Community Services and Case Management, and I am about the conclude an Advance Diploma in Community Sector Management at RMIT. I have strong initiative and I thrive in roles where I can undertake tasks independently, utilise my organisational skills, empathy, patience, and problem-solving skills. I enjoy building positive relationships with all I work alongside, irrespective of background, and believe this is fundamental to foster healthy productivity. I like working in a close-knit team that promotes a positive culture and celebrates diversity within the work environment and understands the importance of an organisation that advocates for the less vulnerable within society. In my current role as a Disability Support Worker with Yooralla, my work has equipped me with a strong understanding of the complexity of daily living in young adults with varying needs. I have also provided direct care and support in transitional and community hub settings. I have supported clients in achieving their goals, facilitating their independence, and assisting to navigate life transitions, including the transition to vocational study. My ability to communicate and provide guidance with complexities and barriers, has allowed their equitable access to achieve success during their educational path.I have also had the experience of being seconded into the role of Service Manager. These experiences have been invaluable to my organisational and communication skills within a team. I have extensive experience working within organisational policy and procedure frameworks, facilitating communication with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, autonomous decision making, problem solving, and creating a positive work environment for staff and clients.
