Lead Manufacturing EngineerAsml Sep 2006 - Nov 2011Veldhoven, NlASML is the world's leading supplier of photolithography systems in the semiconductor industry. I joined ASML in 2006 as a Design Engineer in the Precision Optics group characterizing optical contacting, an epoxy-free bonding method used in optical modules within the lithography systems. My focus was on characterizing the bond and its probability of survival under operational conditions of the system. The study and method of testing of optical contacts has now become a company standard and has served as the foundation upon which this method of bonding is now confidently employed across multiple tools, including EUV lithography systems. I was part of the NPI team that developed the process of utilizing optical contacting on a module used for wafer stage alignment. As this system transitioned from NPI to volume manufacturing, I was tasked with leading the project to increase throughput while improving quality and yield. For this project I managed a budget of $2M+ and was responsible for scheduling of the project, interfacing with cross-functional teams such as Facilities, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Design Engineers, external suppliers and the customer.The team succeeded in doubling the move rate within 8 months by removing manufacturing bottlenecks, and improved the first pass yield (FPY) rates. The team then successfully developed the assembly process for a new optical assembly that is used in next EUV lithography systems. During this process I effectively set up routers, work instructions, BOM and structured the project in SAP for not only manufacturing but financial tracking.At project’s NPI stage, I diligently led the effort to develop a PFMEA to highlight top process risks and minimized their impacts by implementing design changes, adding tooling and training of technicians. During volume manufacturing phases, I was responsible for maintaining the system to proactively collect all assembly data for CPK/SPC analysis and other studies.
