ANSYS-Fluent, a commercial CFD package has been used for generating airfoil characteristics for various sizes and shapes of the stall strip and positioning along different chord wise locations. These computationally generated databases have been further used in GH-Bladed, industry standard software for optimizing the position of the stall strip along the span-wise location of the wind turbine blade. The work is primarily concerned with the second aspect of the retrofitting of the wind turbine blade i.e. ensuring a controlled stalling characteristic of the wind turbine blade. A design methodology has been established from the present work and it will be validated by field trials in future on the 300 kW Sangeeth-Carter Stall regulated wind turbine and suitably fine tuned later.
