Working in Nòkwewashk to advance economic reconciliation.

I worked with the Indigenous and Northern Affairs Unit in the Strategic Policy Division of the Lands and Minerals Sector for my second Policy Analyst Recruitment and Development Program rotation. Key focus included supporting the development of the Canadian Critical Minerals Strategy.

I worked with the Strategic and Horizontal Policy Division for my first rotation as a part of the Policy Analyst Recruitment and Development Program.

I worked at the Fiscal Policy and Arrangements Directorate in the Fiscal Branch. I collaborated with self-governing Indigenous governments and other federal departments on a new funding policy for Indigenous governments, including infrastructure, culture, language, and heritage funding methodologies. I also conducted research to support fiscal policy development for a new financial mandating framework for agreements with Indigenous groups. In addition I supported management on briefing materials and intergovernmental logistics. I received an Instant Recognition Award for my work assisting the closing of fiscal agreement renewals.

I supported the development and implementation of the Integrated Climate Action in BC Communities Initiative. I performed research on climate action integration and application in BC, and conducted interviews with First Nation and municipal climate leaders. I also coordinated workshop logistics and assisted with the development of educational materials on local government’s role in climate change adaptation and mitigation.

I supported Commissioners at treaty negotiations by facilitating negotiations and liaising with the negotiating parties from federal, provincial, and First Nations governments. I monitored the progress of negotiations, identified and analyzed obstacles, and provided briefings to Commissioners and Directors. I also assisted with communications and outreach initiatives, including co-leading the planning and coordination of regional reconciliation gatherings.

I worked at the Consultation and Accommodation Unit. I conducted research on Indigenous groups and topics, and created content for various audiences including the online publicAboriginal and Treaty Rights Information System. I also provided support to management on briefing materials and outgoing correspondence. I worked independently to support team goals.

Whitehorse, Yt

I organized community events throughout the Yukon, coordinated communications about caucus affairs, and engaged the public on substantive issues. I also had the opportunity to research and draft questions for use in the Yukon Legislative Assembly question period.

Victoria, Bc

I coordinated the UVic United Way Campaign. This entailed managing multiple facets of the campaign to ensure all members of the campaign committee were able to effectively work to reach our fundraising goal.

Whitehorse, Yt

I ensured the safety and satisfaction of customers as I guided them through unique zipline adventure tours. I was a team leader, so I also coordinated co-worker job assignments and helped maintain positive team spirit.
