At KNMI I work as lead instrument operations, calibration scientist, big data analyst, member of the DIVA core team and member of the employees council. As lead for TROPOMI (and OMI up until 2021) operations I ensure that scientists can improve their knowledge about the climate using the best possible TROPOMI data.This I do by analysing problems, finding the best way to solve them and smart programming to ensure the best possible instrument performance.For this I cooperate with different groups in KNMI, (Dutch) industry, ESA and NASA.As calibration scientist I work on easier and better methods of irradiance data calibration. L2 products like NO2 profit from the improvements.As big data analyst I have worked on the datalab project 'Crime and weather' in cooperation with WODC (department of Safety and Justice) (2016-2017) in order to obtain new insights in relations between weather and crime. This was accomplished by combining datasets from the department of WODC and KNMI and applying regression analysis and machine learning techniques. For this purpose daily interpolated weather data for 2006-2016 was combined with crime data based on date and city.Different datamining techniques and visualisation techniques were explored.As member of DIVA (KNMI women's network) core team (since December 2009) I organise activities to empower women and increase diversity awareness in the organisation.We also advise the board of directors on diversity issues.As member of the employees council (since May 2012) I am committed to the institute and the employees in order to improve decision-making and further employee participation in the decision-making process.Member of DB in period 2015-2021 ( deputy-chairperson of the council 2015 - 2018).

In 2004 I developed the digital network guide for NIMF, the network for women in physics, informatics and mathematics, The guide came online in July 2005 and can only be used by NIMF members.

As researcher and member of the international BaBar collaboration I have studied rare B meson decays. In addition I was coordinator of the Mont Carlo simulation of the driftchamber, which is the part of the detector that is responsible for the detection of charged particles, and have developed better methods to model data.For the study of rare B meson decays (100 per 100 million) I have used a statistical analysis methods involving a maximum likelihood fit. A blind analysis technique prevents bias. The software package was easily adaptable to study other rare B meson decays. Finally I have also added a timedependent component to the analysis to enable measuring CP violation with rare B meson decays.

Thesis in the field of elementary particle fysics titled "Excited Beauty at L3". This research is based on results of the L3 collaboration at CERN, Geneva, Switzerland. In addition I was responsible for monitoring of the Silicon Microvertex Detector during its first year of operation.As part of my PhD student activities I advised students on the work college exercises of nuclear physics (for physics students) and electromagnetism (for chemistry students).Activities:- Interpretation of measurement data- solving problems together with colleagues from different countries
