I have been involved in many volunteer based industry organizations in both the tourism and music industry. As a result, I have experience in public speaking, facilitation and governance. I am a motivator and a people oriented manager who believes in trusting peoples' abilities even when they doubt themselves. As a result of my own experiential tourism product, The Miramichi Kitchen Party, as well as my background as Executive Director of Miramichi Landings, I also have experience in tourism product development. This experience, coupled with a Master of Arts Degree in Tourism Management, gives me a unique combination of practical experiential product development and tourism management expertise. My thesis research looked at the governance structure of tourism in N.B. and has given me insight on the wide range of issues facing tourism organizations as well as tourism service providers.I believe in the story that is inherent to every person and every organization or business. To market successfully you need to know what is unique about your story and how it fits into the tourism marketplace. Every experience is a story and every story is an experience. In this capacity, I work directly with numerous volunteers to determine the scope of a project, the focus of their story, and the ensuing economic benefits of the project. The document that I produce forms the basis for potential funding applications to all levels of government, including the municipality. These projects vary from strictly "community building" projects to projects with distinctive tourism product development initiatives.
