I worked in our research group from February 2013 to July 2015. This project aims to develop a pilot Real-Time optimization solution that was implemented in an industrial unit. I was in charge of writing code for dynamic and steady-state modeling of vapor recompression distillation (VRD), for propene production, which operates in the REPLAN refinery of Petrobras. Energy and cost savings were obtained along with ensuring the high purity of the products.
