I enjoy solving challenges in the social sphere, particularly at the intersection between business, society and sustainability. This includes assisting my clients to understand and manage their social risks, developing practical systems to obtain, manage and report on relevant corporate or social data, and embedding these systems within the organisation to drive performance based on actionable insights.Over the past 4 years I have been undertaking extensive work in the mining sector, providing expertise that bridges Social Performance Management and strategic decision-making across both operations and capital expenditure arenas. Regardless of the sphere I am working in I am passionate about data, and about story telling using data. I have become increasingly convinced by the power of using business analytics tools to better evidence impact and understand performance. This includes using Powerbi/Smartsheets/Python to analyse and present data to stakeholders at scale and in a way that allows for a better understanding of key issues. I remain, however, a steadfast advocate for the Mighty Excel, the Swiss Army Knife for almost any task (data or planning) that one is faced with! I believe more than ever in the value of an alternative consulting model, that draws on collaboration, and fostering and drawing on networks of like-minded individuals from diverse skill sets to creatively solve problems (with less meetings).
