  • Mcmaster University
    Teaching Assistant
    Mcmaster University Sep 2008 - Aug 2014
    Hamilton, Ontario
TAed courses including: Graduate Computational Physics, Upper Year Quantum Mechanics, Upper Year Analytical Mechanics, Intermediate Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics.
  • Mcmaster University
    Graduate Student
    Mcmaster University Sep 2008 - Aug 2014
    Hamilton, Ontario
Developed internationally competitive numerical codes, extensively utilizing parallel and high-performance computing techniques, to explore the quantum behaviour of two- and one-dimensional systems. All codes, based on entirely original source code, represent extremely specialized applications of computational linear algebra and distributed computing.
  • University Of Waterloo
    Research Student
University Of Waterloo May 2008 - Jul 2008
    Waterloo, Ontario
Coded a variety of different Monte-Carlo programs, including parallel codes, to calculate the specific heats and residual entropies of the spin ices dysprosium and holonium titanate at low temperatures. Codes utilized cutting-edge techniques in Monte-Carlo to successfully address the mathematical problem at hand.
  • Maplesoft
    Content Developer
    Maplesoft Sep 2006 - Dec 2006
    Waterloo, Ontario
Developed code to algorithmically generate community college level math problems with accompanying step-by-step solutions (including thorough didactic explanation) for use with an on-line educational suite designed to reinforce the understanding of the textbooks of a prominent textbook publisher. Was the most productive developer, amongst a group of 13 others. Made extensive use of Maple. Utilized a pedagogical and academic writing style. Performed part-time editorial reviews of authored content.
  • Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre
    Medical Imaging Research Student
Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Sep 2005 - Dec 2005
    Toronto, Canada Area
Successfully applied physics and computational techniques, learned on-the-fly, to attack key problems in medical physics. Developed algorithms and scripts in MATLAB to synthesize real-time MRI data for use with image registration algorithm comparisons. Utilized the VTK (Visualization Toolkit) in Python to develop 2D → 3D navigation software for use with a catheter mounted ablative device for treatment of atherosclerosis.
  • Grand River Hospital
    Physics Assistant/Technician
Grand River Hospital Jan 2005 - May 2005
    Kitchener, Canada Area
Conducted independent research into different aspects of radiation therapy, accelerator physics and dose delivering; including an extensive investigation into 'Multi-Leaf Collimator' movement behaviour which could allow for improved treatment quality in dose dynamic therapy. Developed five programs designed for professional use (in VB .NET). Three of the programs required the determination of analytical equations through intensive analysis of large amounts of data. Worked independently and creatively to generate experiments in order to determine desired quantities and tendencies in radiation and machine behaviour. Worked cooperatively with two other co-op students for a number of projects. Received recommendations from all three of the head physicists whom I worked under.
