How does a Communications graduate from The University of Texas end up teaching English in Korea, becoming the Marketing Director at Yokota Air Base in Japan and then seamlessly transitioning into another lucrative marketing position in Shreveport, LA? The quick answer is the passion for travel with a military partner, but the longer answer is versatility and a healthy work ethic.I started my career in graphic design, which taught me all aspects of creative production. I picked up website building, writing, video design and eventually art direction. Meanwhile, I also apprenticed at a letterpress printing shop in my free time. You can never learn too many trades!The next year and a half saw a hiatus in my advertising/marketing career. I had the distinct opportunity to be a part of the educational experience in both Korea and Japan. Those years of volunteering as a teacher in catechism classes were for a good reason! That, and being open-minded.But with a strong calling for marketing, I sought and landed a position as the Assistant Marketing Director at the 374th Force Support Squadron, Yokota Air Base. I quickly absorbed the environment and was promoted within months as the Marketing Director. I took pride in my new role as a marketing strategist, leading a talented team of creative professionals: writers, designers, sponsorship coordinator, photographers and print magicians. Our team successfully marketed 40 business operations, managed a robust website, produced a monthly magazine, coordinated large-scale events across the base and maintained publicity in sync with the 374th Airlift Wing Public Affairs.After three strong years, a military move found me in Shreveport, LA. Another marketing opportunity popped up. I worked with a growing team at Mechanical Concepts to build a brand and disseminate products and services to the HVAC engineering and contracting community.Continuing education is a prominent tenet of mine and I proved this by graduating from Harvard Extension School with a Master's in Digital Media Design in May 2023.
