* Received training in the functioning of medical ventilators from the respiratory therapist.* Assessed and treated speech, swallowing and cognitive linguistic disorders in medically compromised individuals and documented daily treatment and patient’s response and progress to the intervention in a timely manner.* Placed 'Passy Muir' Valves on individuals with tracheostomies during supervised trials and provided speech therapy. * Assisted in several FEES procedures, conducted clinical bedside swallow examinations, interpreted results, educated patients about the results of the evaluations and made appropriate recommendations.* ‘Effect of a tracheostomy speaking valve on breathing–swallowing interaction’ :​ provided an in-service to the professionals from the Department of Rehabilitation, on the relationship between respiration and swallow, the normal stages of swallowing, the functioning of a speaking valve and the effect of a speaking valve on breathing – swallowing interaction.
