Teaching digital-first strategy & ways of working to nonprofit organizations

I founded and lead Convio and Blackbaud's User Experience (UX) consulting group, helping non-profit clients organizations to create enjoyable, intuitive, successful online experiences for their constituents. I have worked with organizations of all sizes with all kinds of UX needs, from the Jewish National Fund, American Diabetes Association, and Easter Seals to small, regional organizations. My work is informed by an M.S. in Information Architecture (IA) from the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on designing experiences, interactions, and information structures for that are usable, accessible, and enjoyable.From a writing background, I came to user experience in a non-profit context while working for the University of Texas at Austin as a content manager, creating an ecosystem of educational and student recruitment websites. Misty McLaughlin is the manager of the User Experience team, which consults with non-profit clients of Convio, Inc. She has a master's degree in Information Architecture (IA) at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on IA for increased usability and accessibility, both in for-profit and non-profit online spaces.From a writing background, Misty came to content management and information architecture in a non-profit context working on the University of Texas at Austin's website. Served as best practices consultant and technical expert, and lead strategic Web projects for 4 national non-profit organizations: American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Easter Seals, and Defenders of Wildlife. Also lead project- and campaign-based online initiatives for mid-size nonprofit organizations, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and Paralyzed Veterans of America.
