Volunteer & Compliance ManagerHospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region Jun 2008 - Sep 2014Charlotte, North Carolina, UsI wore many hats as Volunteer & Compliance Manager for Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region (HPCCR). I supervised approximately 100 community and facility-based volunteers who provided patients and families under hospice care with invaluable support. To best care for our patients and families, I built relationships with our volunteers to ensure that they had the necessary skills and knowledge to act as leaders for our organization. Therefore, I designed, coordinated and facilitated volunteer training and in-services while advising, coaching and mentoring volunteer staff.My efforts at HPCCR produced tremendous growth, doubling volunteer retention after I assumed the role in 2008. I took the initiative to better serve the organization by developing and implementing new programs, such as our Volunteer Leaders program, to meet the needs of the growing organization. Working with volunteers requires creativity and energy, as well as strong interpersonal and customer service skills. I believe providing topnotch customer service, both internally and externally, is the crux of any strong program. In addition to my daily responsibilities, I created publications and edited marketing materials for the Volunteer Services Department. I became the go-to person for proofreading because I have a keen eye for detail and enjoy editing. I also helped to maintain the department's social media accounts and contributed to the HPCCR blog. In 2012, I took responsibility for volunteer documentation for the entire program, tracking plan of care compliance, completing audits and calculating departmental stats.Because HPCCR served eight counties at the time of my employment, I worked independently from multiple offices, meeting with my supervisor as needed to discuss projects and goals. Despite being independently based, I collaborated as an interdisciplinary team member to ensure that our patients and families received hospice care of the highest quality. -
