Andrology Lab Supervisor
CurrentWork with human resources to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ an appropriate number of employees to staff the laboratory. Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning. Lead employees using a performance management and development process that provides an overall context and framework to encourage employee contribution, feedback, and performance development planning.• Maintain employee work schedules including assignments, job rotation, training, vacations, paid time-off, cover for absenteeism, and overtime scheduling. Manage the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department. Responsible for overseeing all andrology laboratory functions including processing, storage, and shipping. Stock handling and specimen inventory maintenance. Manage donor testing and assure results are recorded. Review monthly QC for adherence to QC guidelines and ensure the quality of all aspects of the laboratory are being met. Adhere to laboratory's QC policies; document all QC activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed. Works with lab manager to ensure production goals are met for each donor and identify ways to improve and meet production goals. Instructs laboratory personnel on handling of substandard donor specimens. Interprets results that may affect quality. General laboratory duties and maintenance including constructing, maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment. Maintaining traceability of specimens. Follow the laboratory established policies and procedures and ensure all personnel are performing established procedures. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and ensure that problems are corrected. Maintain laboratory stock, inventory, and ordering supplies when necessary. Maintain quality assurance and identify areas for QA improvement.
