Virtual Driving Simulation Developer – DIGITS research group, Leicester Following a specification, I self-managed a project to build and program an Immersive Vehicle Virtual Reality Testbed (IVVRT) Simulator and was responsible for development of 3D application capable to simulate real world driving environment, including weather, traffic, pedestrians and terrain topography to be the basis of future research work for PhD and Research Fellows. My main duties and responsibilities included: Meeting with research group members to discuss progress and requirements. Assembling hardware and ensuring the working order and compatibility of equipment including a 6DOF full motion platform, OSVR, HTC Vive, Leap motion, Direct Drive Force Feedback wheels and pedals and multi monitor display set up. Programming a 3D environment and application to control the IVVRT and to be used for future research applications, implementing researched motion cueing algorithm and washout algorithms to transform simulated vehicle motion to a realizable set of platform motions. Creating a prototype vehicle and environment in Unity 3D and ensuring accurate feedback was provided to the simulator platform. Exhibiting the IVVRT at an Intelligent Transport Conference showcasing the simulator to industry leading professionals and explaining the workings of the simulator.
