Education is the key to effective cross connection control and backflow prevention. As such, dispensing knowledge on the subject matter through the production of articles in various state and region publications has been an honor. in addition, I occasionally self publish articles on our website www.backflowpreventionservices.com to provide knowledge for individuals, plumbers, and officials seeking additional information. In order to effectively serve our clients in an efficient manner, data collection and management is the key. While several software applications are available for the industry, many were not user friendly or were cost prohibitive. As a result, I have crafted and created several applications that are now available in the iTunes App Store.CCC SurveyCCC Survey is an application designed to be used to collect data during a cross connection control survey and generate a report for our clients. It is a downloadable application for use on an iPad with syncing capabilities to a cloud based server. It is an excellent tool to quickly collect data and generate a report.GARDERGARDER is a low cost, user friendly, cloud based software application intended to ease the burdens on the program manager's time and money. It is a tiered application that allows for quality control through the use of an administrator, surveyor, and tester. This application even allows for a secured remote entry by the tester to input data ... thus eliminating the cumbersome task of the administrator having to input test results!

Louisiana

Since 2004, I've assisted dozens of water systems achieve compliance with state regulations through the development, implementation, and management of their cross connection control programs. Development of the program included creation of an ordinance and crafting a Policy and Procedures Manual. Implementation incorporates the surveying, letter distribution, and test tracking of a program. In addition, I've conducted "town hall" and plumber/tester meetings to explain all aspects of the program. Management of a program includes the distribution of annual letters, test report tracking, and general administrative duties.

Local, State, Regional, And National

As a speaker, I have had the pleasure of speaking before audiences ranging in size from 10 upwards to 500 people on the cross connection control and backflow prevention subject matter. Audience types have varied, but included, water and sewer system operators; engineers; local, state, and national public health officials; local public officials; building officials; and local civic groups such as the Kiwanis. While most of these speaking engagements are primarily in Louisiana, several have occurred in other states including Florida, Arkansas, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma.
