 Primary quality point of contact for multiple suppliers in both production and development stages of product lifecycle. This support includes but is not limited to on site reviews and audits, Lockheed Martin and Government contract compliance assurance, process assessment and improvement recommendations, review and quality approval of Failure Review Board (FRB) investigations. Engage with suppliers and drive systemic resolution of non-compliant hardware and processes as well as ensuring management of containment, root cause, and corrective action efforts are effective. Material Review Board (MRB) authority as Quality representative to disposition closure of Non-Conformances, Waivers and Deviations. Review and evaluate engineering drawings and assign appropriate Quality notes to the Purchase Orders to ensure program and customer compliance is met. In addition conduct Purchase Order reviews with supplier to ensure clear expectations are communicated. Support and development assistance of departmental performance metrics and program health assessment. As a senior member of the Supplier Quality Engineering Team I offer guidance, mentoring, and support of all other members and their activities.

 Review product and processes to ensure product is compliant to engineering design and has produced in accordance with established work instructions. Lead the Material Review Board (MRB) for evaluation and disposition of non-conforming product. Evaluate defects and 5 Why submissions to determine if failure mode is systemic and promote robust preventative actions to be taken to avoid future occurrence. Review plant wide defect trends to determine primary failure modes and product defect pareto. Use this data to implement Quality at the Source (QATS) initiatives and drive defect detection and process improvements to ensure quality is built into the system and pushed upstream to drive down “cost of poor quality”. Participate in Kaizen events. Review housekeeping practices and create 5S plans. Process mapping to identify and eliminate waste from the process. Standardize the process to insure consistent results.

 Spearhead the establishment and execution of short-term and long-term strategic quality objectives for the organization. Develop and implement company policies, standards, operational procedures and work instructions for performing and documenting quality activities. Maintains organizational Quality Management System and all controlled documents. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 certification requirements. Manage the internal audit program to ensure compliance with company policies, operational procedures and work instructions. Identify, train, and guide internal auditors through the auditing process. Maintain all appropriate records. Directly or indirectly supervise all employees in the quality department. Prioritize and delegate work as appropriate. Verify work and support activities are consistent with project timeline, established budget, customer requirements, quality requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Prepare, maintain, and communicate organization and/or management reports, including budget and quality metrics. Prepare and submit cost estimates, budget recommendations, and budget justifications as appropriate. Focus on continuous improvement in all areas related to quality. Analyze work flow and recommends changes when appropriate. Strive to maintain and improve our competitive position and profitability.

 Create, maintain, and promote sound inspection processes for manufacturing of product components and assemblies utilized in the fluid power industry. Mentor and direct quality personnel in their daily actives including measurement of purchased product, machined components, and hydraulic manifold assemblies. Manage Customer relations including compliance to customer specific requirements and, when necessary, completion of Corrective Actions and provide resolution to Customer complaints or discrepant product. Creation of company Supplier Quality Manual and Supplier Development Program. Perform supplier on site auditing and monitor and report on performance metrics.

 Direct Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians in daily activities that support all internal processes required to maintain an efficient flow of inspection activities and accurate results utilizing the most appropriate measurement practices. Work with new product development, manufacturing, purchasing and service personnel, along with vendors, to resolve issues concerning design, specifications, materials, tooling, and production operations affecting quality. Provide guidance to Design Engineers to ensure that the product design intent is appropriately represented and defined on the blueprint. Manage new product testing program insuring compliance with all regulatory bodies for product safety and construction such as ASTM and EN. Manage international and domestic supplier quality by tracking monthly PPM and communication through a personally developed “Supplier Development Program” which tracks supplier performance and rejects on over 98% of all dollars spent.  Compile data and report plant wide performance metrics monthly to Executive Group for evaluation and utilize this information to drive focused improvement efforts. Mentor and train all members of the Quality Team in areas such as GD&T and blueprint reading, measurement methodology, SPC applications, and CMM programming.

 Establish specific customer needs and requirements. Direct contact with customer is established to discuss questions and/or concerns that may arise prior to and during product evaluation. Develop a plan to deliver reliable data in the most effective and efficient manner. Compliance to various industry requirements such as ISO 9001, TS16949, and AS9100 must be met. Consideration of accuracy and allowed timeframe play a key role in meeting customer expectations and maintaining project profitability.  Use various types of measurement equipment, including hand tools and CMM’s to collect measurement data. CMM programming utilizing Calypso or PC-Dmis Software. Programming takes place using both CAD Model “off-line” programming and “on-line” programming at the CMM. Submit results in a neat and organized manner. Resolve any customer questions or concerns as they may arise. Utilize measurement equipment to dimensionally define customer supplied parts for reverse engineering. Use measurement information to develop CAD models and Part Drawings as required. Instructor for “CMM Basic Programming Utilizing Calypso for Zeiss”, offered through Q.C. Inspections training division.

 Direct a staff of Quality personnel in the daily verification and inspection of precision-machined components in the Aerospace, Automotive, and Medical sectors. Insure plant wide compliance to QS9000 procedures and work instructions while meeting additional customer requirements of AS9100, and JIS Q 9001. Personally handle customer concerns through completion and implementation of corrective and preventative action plans. Utilize SPC and process capability data to insure value added inspection is in place.

 Evaluation of prototype and production product through print and process reviews. Determine product feasibility based on print tolerances and expected production equipment capabilities. Assist in process development and fixture design. Evaluate customer product requirements and develop sound gageing techniques to insure part quality throughout process. CMM programming and program development utilizing Calypso Software. Programming takes place using both CAD Model “off-line” programming and “on-line” programming at the CMM.

Responsible for set-up, production, and quality in lathe and mill operations. Additional responsibilities include first piece approval, SPC data tracking, and in process inspections.
