I provide building owners, engineers and contractors guidance in designing, installing and utilizing applied control systems for building automation purposes. By leveraging my experience in HVAC design, coupled with energy modelling and renewable energy system design, I am able to provide DDC control solutions using leading edge controls products while implementing project specific control strategies to deliver optimized control while minimizing energy consumption.

I worked with developers and building design professionals across Canada in all aspects of system integration. My experience ranges from high level conceptual design through to detailed design and contract administration, on new construction and retrofit projects. Depending on the level of involvement, I provided consultation on a wide variety of components of the geothermal design process, including:Design Development-Ball-park sizing and costing based on similarly completed projects-Feasibility studies providing detailed design recommendations and economic analysesDetailed Design-Create building energy models to develop annual energy profiles of the building. Provide suggestions to design teams on how to best adapt the building to geothermal heating and cooling-Use ground heat exchanger (GHX) modelling software to design an optimized GHX given the local geological conditions/constraints-Basic financial models using equipment and installation costs and local utility rates to compare conventional heating and cooling systems with geothermal-type systems-GHX drawings and specifications, and coordination with the design team on location of GHX and associated equipment-Selection of major HVAC equipment associated with the geothermal system, including circulation pumps, expansion tanks, buffer tanks, heat pumps, makeup air units, heat exchangers-Control system design for GHX optimization, including control points and sequencing for all major HVAC equipment associated with the GHXContract Administration-Review shop drawings, kickoff meetings with contractors and site supervisors, perform site visits to review progress and quality of installation

Organize delivery, set-up and pickup of portable toilet units for events ranging from residential parties to 10,000+ person events. Coordinate with event organizers on location of units, delivery and pickup times, mid-event service calls and payment. Also performed monthly rental service calls requiring route planning, restocking and general maintenance of service vehicles.

Start-up and monitoring of an earthen, psychrophillic anaerobic digester fed by hog manure. Also worked on optimization of canola oil extraction at a start-up biodiesel plant.
