• Designed and developed a sophisticated multithreaded Windows service application for generating scheduled Crystal reports. Created an AJAX-enabled front end to allow users to create schedules.• Designed and developed a marketing campaign generator. Application generates address list based on user-specified filter criteria, then either generates personalized emails, or creates a Word document of personalized letters, both from user-defined rich text templates. Engaged by NASCO to extend the AIW application I coauthored while at ThoughtBridge. Revised AIW to support multiple insurance companies and to support more complex policy underwriting rules and workflows. Responsible for front end and data design and development. Engaged by two clients:• NASCO: Created AIW - a web-based application used by Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance companies nationwide. Application allows users to easily maintain thousands of data elements related to health insurance policies, and to manage the workflow associated with setting up policies. Responsible for front end and data design and development. Created an open schema design to accommodate ever-changing data requirements. Participated in the entire development lifecycle. Technical environment: ASP.NET 2003, VB.NET, and SQL Server 2000.• McKesson: Created a SharePoint-based application to allow project managers to efficiently track projects. Application was utilized by 52 project managers to manage a total project portfolio of $30 million. Participated in the entire development lifecycle. Provided third-tier help desk support for the entire company. Technical environment: SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and 2007, MOSS, C#.

• Created front end, middle tier, and back end functionality for a Web-based workflow application. Utilized master pages and a third-party data layer generation tool. Created a process to import data into the workflow application from disparate systems, such as SQL Server, Informix, and flat and XML files from future ERP systems. Added functionality to an XML/XSL and VB6-based mission-critical catalog display application used by 2,000 parts dealers worldwide. New functionality included redirecting dealers to new parts away from obsolete and superseded ones. Rearchitected application to function properly in a Citrix environment. Created file replication application in C#. Created data import application in C# that creates parts cross-reference files from data in disparate systems. Refactored three VB6 applications to enhance stability, increase performance, and improve error handling. Supported international localization requirements. Provided both external and internal support.

Added new functionality to a large web-based health insurance sales automation system. Was able to become productive in less than a week by quickly learning architecture and system internals. Programming was done in VB, ASP, JavaScript, and ADO against a SQL Server 2000 back end. Developed code for both front end pages and middle tier COM components. Utilized XML to serialize and persist session data, and as a metalanguage to describe Web pages and PDF forms. Utilized a third-party component to generate PDF output. Led Microsoft SharePoint Server pilot. Performed troubleshooting and analysis of production defects. Used Visual SourceSafe for source code control. Participated in review of company’s source code configuration practices and build management procedures, and recommended changes to be implemented companywide.

Designed, created, and deployed complex Web-based logistical services workflow system for the petroleum industry consisting of 220 ASP and ASP.NET pages, 72 SQL Server tables, 210 stored procedures, and 30 views. Responsible for data design and modeling. System increased logistical department efficiency by 400%. System monitors fuel levels in underground storage tanks and facilitates efficient dispatching of fuel orders. Tank reading data is received from multiple sources (Web, phone, email, or FTP) and then translated and processed by a Visual Basic program which projects future inventory levels and estimates when fuel orders need to be placed. Calculates lowest fuel cost for every customer by finding lowest combination of supplier price and mileage-based freight rate between supply terminals and customer locations. Routes orders to the appropriate supplier via fax or email. Tracks order status and proactively highlights process exceptions to allow quick resolution. Customer-facing pages allow customers to obtain pricing, place orders, view tank levels, and track order status (depending on security permissions) in real time.

Rearchitected Viterra’s mission-critical bill print process (Viterra is a third-party utility billing company). Dramatically reduced development and maintenance costs by transitioning multiple bill print systems to a common, unified bill print system. Created complex object model to coordinate multiple clients, multiple bill formats, multiple printers, and multiple bill data schemas. Created both desktop and Web-based applications to create and print bills and to make bills available for online viewing. Created Windows service to transfer bill data. Created bill print test plans.

Engaged four clients:Bell South Services-----------------------------• Finished Web-based reporting application left undone by former employee. Allows entry of various selection criteria and produces charts and graphs that summarize various key performance indicators. Restructured and reformatted source code to improve reusability and maintainability. • Developed an online survey system for company-wide use. Administration pages allow multiple surveys to be administered from one place, and allow administrator to upload participant list and download survey results. System eliminated expensive and time-consuming mailing preparation and manual survey tabulation. Southern Company---------------------------• Developed a Web-based document management system to allow the sharing of thousands of scanned and machine-readable documents between hundreds of legal professionals in ten utility companies. Utilized Windows Indexing Service to index and search documents and SQL Server 2000 to store custom document properties. • Developed a Web-based legal request workflow system for company-wide use. System allows legal requests to be created then routed to one or more managers for approval based on the creator’s login and type of request. C&C Service Distributors------------------------------------Created Web-based marketing collateral ordering system for use by purchasing agents in over 200 Kroger stores. System increased order fulfillment efficiencies by replacing phone-based process.Eastbank Trading Company----------------------------------------Created application on company’s Web site to allow uploading of Material Test Reports. MTRs are then downloaded on demand by company’s customers, resulting in increased customer service efficiencies.

Participated in four projects:• Developed a portal for a medium-sized financial services company using Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server. Created Discussion Facilitator and Order Flow applications hosted in Web Parts.• Developed a Web-based Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing solution for a medium-sized healthcare provider. Allows company executives to quickly analyze key performance indicators in an intuitive, visual manner. Utilized Knosys ProClarity components hosted in Web Parts. Interviewed end users, identified relevant source data elements in their Sybase data warehouse, and created an ETL process to extract the data into a SQL Server star schema, and eventually into a Microsoft Analysis Services Cube. Designed schemas, created DTS packages and stored procedures, and deployed solution. Responsible for SQL performance tuning. Participated as both technical resource and project manager. I was involved for the entire development lifecycle. • Developed a Web-based Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing solution for a large supply chain software company. Utilized Knosys ProClarity components and Seagate Crystal Reports hosted in Web Parts. Supplied data to ProClarity components by a Microsoft Analysis Services 2000 server. Utilized XML and XSL to customize Web Part appearance and locale and to store MDX queries and ProClarity views for later recall. Assisted with development of DTS packages for the ETL process. Programmatically manipulated DTS packages and OLAP cubes using SQL Server Decision Support Objects, all utilizing Visual Basic. I was involved for the entire development lifecycle.• Developed a Web-based Order Configurator, which guides sales associates through the ordering process. Extended the base Commerce Server schema. I also created administration pages with ASP that allow internal staff to easily modify Configurator content and options. I was involved during the entire development lifecycle.

Solely responsible for the ongoing development of a mission-critical web site management tool written in VB. Application is used nationwide by Cox content editors to organize Web pages and images and to manipulate HTML. Content is translated to XML then transferred to and from the server over the Internet via Microsoft’s Winsock component. Wrote custom XML parser.

This system gathers financial data from dental offices around the country daily, then allows users to generate consolidated financial reports on demand. Participated in all aspects of project. Gathered requirements. Participated in JAD sessions. Acted as Microsoft SQL Server DBA. Designed and maintained database schema using ERWin. Responsible for converting a non-relational schema consisting of 30 tables in a proprietary database to a relational schema in SQL Server. Responsible for performance tuning, database change control, and creating complex stored procedures. Designed and implemented the front-end using Microsoft Visual Basic. Created reports using Crystal Reports. Acted as primary contact for the customer. Managed day-to-day development, which included directing and coordinating five developers and three QA engineers. • Billing Information Management System. Participated in gathering requirements for a billing system for a $2 Billion client over a three month period. Began developing a prototype using ASP. • Year 2000 Compliance for the MCI Local project. Coordinated efforts to bring an application developed for MCI by ClientLink into Year 2000 compliance. Researched vendor compliance. Reviewed Visual Basic source code, SQL stored procedures, Crystal Reports report files, and HTML for noncompliance. Tested user interfaces and report generation.

Developed embedded firmware for an RS-485-based network of devices that allows laborers to request raw materials from various locations on the plant floor. Designed and developed sophisticated networking protocols that allowed for multiple requests to be mapped to appropriate stations. Designed and developed interfaces to LCD displays and keyboards.
