Senior Member Of The Technical Staff
I am working on Radio Frequency applications of Machine Learning with a company that has been using Signal Processing, AI, and Machine Learning techniques for over 10 years. I am embedded at their customer site, as the liaison between the core team of algorithm developers and the customer.I leveraged an opportunity to join a rare breed of company, Expedition Technology. Everything about the company is innovative and puts our people first. We are small team oriented, enabling those teams to explore novel technologies while solving customers' mission requirements. We have a 10+ year history of delivering novel solutions with national impact for the Defense and Intelligence Communities and we are continuing to grow.
Program Evaluator (Pev)
The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.(ABET) is a non-governmental organization that accredits post-secondary education programs and is the recognized U.S. accreditor of college and university programs in "applied science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology" in the United States and internationally.ABET accreditation is accomplished by professionals from industry, academia, and government dedicated to contributing to their professions through the ongoing improvement of the quality of technical education. These experts evaluate program materials, visit campuses, and participate in accreditation decisions. Most begin their service as Program Evaluators, or PEVs, who as volunteers do the hands-on work of accrediting approximately 3,600 programs at over 700 institutions in 29 countries.
Author / Publisher
How do you connect good authors with an expanding set of readers? Existing publishing houses have one model. I am bringing my methods and several decades of successful experience in other lines of business to the publishing industry. With 137 Things, I am responsible for the market research, strategy, and content development in the creation of a brand of books tied to existing distribution channels of common interest for diverse companies. While designed to be entertaining, these books are carefully structured to leverage the mutual interests of companies, without engaging in direct advertising or paid copy. This is a chance to showcase author's skills while getting them an audience.I have created the 137 Things brand to focus on publishing collections of original stories that tie in to a common thread within each book. They are designed to be easily read in small pieces or as a whole. While leveraging external interests, 137 Things retains all editorial control of the material in creating an edgy look at life and getting positive exposure for companies. The initial plan is for the publication of 4 titles per year, with a supporting web site, and periodic e-mails to link readers from one title to the next. After publication of the first title, I am planing to increase the rate of publication of new titles, while maintaining the quality of the content, by bringing in additional authors to write for 137 Things.
Producer / Director
To help my customers focus on outcome, I produce and direct commercial video to help them achieve their goals. Its like the espresso of feature length films - - it's condensed, to the point, and gets the job done in a small package. If it tastes good and makes you feel great, so much the better!
Senior Radio Frequency Engineer - Mission Payload
Subcontractor to Lockheed as their on-site representative for all aspects of managing a novel Class B space mission payload. Areas of focus include Mission Assurance, Novel Orbital Analysis, Antenna Array Testing, Worst Case Analysis, Manufacturing, and Integration & Test. Became the key person for Mission Assurance across the supplier and the Prime. Tools include DOORS, Cameo, Matlab, Python. Efforts include documentation reviews, improvement of program workflow processes, requirements reviews, development of a manufacturing plan for large scale reproduction of the mission payload. The real key in this position, as the on-site representative of the prime, I manage the relationships in both directions, keeping communications on track and helping to identify potential issues before they arise.
Senior System Engineering Fellow
Senior System Engineer for complex multi-rack hardware and software systems. Overseas deployments for system installations. Also working in their innovation organization, where among other things, I generated several Internal Research & Development (IR&D) proposals ranging across 5G, Space, Cyber, RF, Radar, Electronic Warfare, and Medical systems. Recognized as member of ManTech's Technical Elite program. Developed a preliminary approach for direct detection of airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus cells by applying SIGINT signal processing and communications techniques.
Visiting Professor
I am a visiting professor at the University if Maryland Advanced Cybersecurity Experience for Students (ACES) under the university's Honors College in College Park, MD. I am teaching a course titled "Seminar in Cybersecurity; Methods for Solving (and Not Solving) Puzzles". The course is a broad undergraduate mathematics survey that uses puzzles as the gateway to the mathematics. I have played a significant role in shaping the material for the course after it's initial offering by others last year. I have tied the mathematics in more tightly with puzzles in every class session to keep strong student interest. I have shaped each class session so it takes the students through the arc of a puzzle as they struggle through solving it and then remove the tension with the amazement and wonder of discovering that there is an underlying mechanism to understand and solve these puzzles. This then sets them up to have associations of the mathematics to the puzzles to draw from in solving other problems.Above all, this course pushes students to learn how to think and to solve real world problems. Much of their eduction prior to this course teaches them to follow directions. This course strives to teach them how to go beyond that and learn to solve problems that are more complex or are problems that don't fit the model of what they have been shown in their studies. Mathematical topics include combinatorics, abstract algebra, group theory, graph theory, logic, algorithms, information theory, cryptography, and game theory along with less mathematically oriented critical thinking skills. The course ends with an in-depth exploration of some complex real world problems.
