M Integrated delivers fully coordinated designs across Structural, Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing & Fire Protection. We work closely with builders to ensure our designs are buildable, clear, and well-integrated.M-Integrated specializes in modular and offsite construction. Modular buildings are manufactured as well as constructed. We aim to merge the manufacturing and construction processes to provide a seamless construction solution from the factory floor to finished building.

I lead the small structural department within the company under the supervision of PE/SE Mickey Halverson - director of engineering. I am responsible for starting up the metal stud design portion of the company. I have refined an integrated design approach for matching the manufacturing constraints of our wall panel production factory with the needs of the field to install modular wall and floor panels.I started the precast engineering design department at Norhart. This involved engineering the proprietary precast system for multi-family podium projects. I worked closely with the manufacturing team and worked their constraints into the engineering design of the building. I am involved with the template development of the overall structural design process. I advise on the development of automation scripts to automate the process of wood/steel panel creation and therefore coordination with other trades.The focus of my role has been integrating our internal design team with the construction team at Norhart. I developed systems to help the design team engineer the building, but more importantly, I use the feedback of the construction and manufacturing teams to improve our processes within our company as a whole.

Structural engineer for wastewater treatment projects and industrial structural engineering. I was the lead designer on small local projects and helped assist the design a larger wastewater facility improvement facility. As much of my previous experience was not in the industrial industry, I spent time bridging the gap from an architectural engineer to an industrial engineer and the different code and scope requirements it involved. I worked primarily with ACI 350 on complex concrete tank structures. To a lesser extent, I was also involved in steel, aluminum, stainless steel, masonry, and composite material design.Another major portion of my time was spent compiling the information from past engineering projects, reviewing for current code updates and general design parameters, then providing it in a clean and concise format for the new structural template.

My initial tasks generally included shop drawing review for steel framing and connections, metal deck and open-webbed joists, and rebar for concrete and masonry.I started full-time upon graduation in 2017. During my time as a structural engineer engineer in training I designed the gravity and lateral systems for a variety of systems building types that was generally controlled by wind for lateral and snow for roof loading under the supervision of Brad Hill, Erik Raker, and John Rhodes. I designed overall building structure with engineering programs such as RAM, Risa, Excel, and Retain Pro. I designed multi-family residential, healthcare, commercial, education, and multi-family residential building. Building type structure design was based on concrete, steel, masonry, wood, and metal studs. I created structural engineer of record permit and construction drawings for these buildings with final review from the stamping engineer. I also reviewed and advised upon construction administration tasks (such as shop drawing review) and site visits where I would write up field reports during construction.In addition to engineer of record work I also provided delegated design work for specialty steel structures. This included designing miscellaneous metal fabrication design and connection design. I reviewed the steel shop drawings and provided a calculation package with edits to fix any connections that did not meet required loading criteria. I stamped these drawings as a registered engineer in the state of Iowa.I also attended site visits for existing structures to analyze feasibility of renovations as well as to determine the overall stability of the structure from a maintenance perspective. I wrote field reports to summarize this data.I attended coordination meetings weekly/bi-weekly with architects and MEP engineers to provide an overall building system that worked with all trades. I communicated daily during the design phase of construction.
