While I was with Wave Motion, we were designing and building a business for a space launch system built for commercial and military purposes. As an engineer at Wave Motion and their first employee, I designed and evaluated novel space mission architectures to determine requirements of vehicle and launch that would improve the overall design and make the product more efficient and marketable. I was also responsible for writing and editing grants that would acquire and maintain funding for the company and project, gaining an understanding of entire technical and business aspects of the corporation.

As my final senior project, I worked with a small team of students to plan an unmanned mission to an asteroid beyond Mars. As part of this project, I was responsible for determining goals and requirements of the mission as well as the concept of operations. With a focus on the launch vehicle and communications subsystems, I was responsible for calculating the launch trajectory and orbit transfer maneuvers, in addition to link budget calculations.

With a small group of students, I designed a network of devices that would be used to warn East African residents of political violence incident in their immediate area. Designing a prototype from end to end from scratch gave me excellent experience with the process of design and a great understanding of the big picture view of customer needs and requirements. I was individually responsible for the customer needs assessment and the technology assessment.
