Working with a team of 3 developers locally, and 6 remotely, to maintain and develop a back office ASP.NET holiday reservation application called Tr@veller.The core Tr@veller application was actually written by a third party software house. The local development team at Hoseasons are responsible for developing and supporting additional functionality not provided by the third party application.Worked on the following:• Setup up TFS 2010 source control for all projects and ancillary applications part way through a major project cycle• Created version control strategy for database solution including merging of developments of thirdparty software-house achieved using branches in TFS• Created price feed system to retrieve pricing data from third party suppliers, using ftp, http• Created a messaging system to be used by price imports and future solutions• Built a 'desktop build' which retrieved latest version of all applications (incl. database) from TFS and compiled all solutions to provide automated deployment for continuous integration• Created web front end to allow ad hoc pricing data import• Web service integration and support• ASP.NET development primarily VB.NET• Supporting classic ASP• Writing SQL, stored procs, functions, views, tables, indexes etc...• Optimising existing SQL stored procedures, functions etc...• Bug fixes• Maintaining Crystal reportsResponsible for:• Inherited ownership of finance payment system which processed millions of pounds worth of payments to accommodation owners monthly• Creating deployment packages including testing and roll back plans• C# .NET mentoring• Coding best practice mentoring

The development and maintenance of an award winning in-house Windows Forms application, with an MS SQL back end, in a team of three developers. Local users served via a fat client and remote users via a single instance of the application over terminal servers.Worked on a number of developments including the following:• Integrations with external suppliers via Web Services, FTP accounts, emails, SSIS, and web site scraping, for stock feeds and claim handling.• A solution to allow concurrent access to a non thread safe third party dll by implementing a queued messaging using MS Service Broker.• A small web portal in ASP.NET to allow suppliers access to downloadable export files, generated in real-time.• Integrated third party ‘unmanaged code’ command line utilities into our .NET application to convert various file formats to support pdf and other file exports.• Specification and creation of a development application to audit changes made by the development team when supporting business issues and provide a more developer-centric view of claims.• Implementation of third party .NET UI components.• MS SQL db design and implementation.Responsible for:• Recruitment in authoring and giving technical telephone interviews.• Setting up UAT environments, involving several systems, for testing.• Releasing new versions of the enterprise application out of hours and authoring release notes.• Monitoring the state of several system critical components such as IIS servers, productions databases and supplier stock feeds. • Ongoing bug fixes.• Providing stats on db files to identify log growth and drive capacity issues.• Ensuring good database performance.• Source control house-keeping: branching and merging pre and post UAT and production releases.
