I am a mechatronics engineer currently working in the field of assistive technology. My role is hands-on and client-focused. (Clients include elderly and/or disabled). I find out what the client is struggling with in their day-to-day lives and offer prototypes to meet their needs. My responsibilities start from the tech assessment where the client’s needs and abilities are accessed, all the way through to the handover of the product. I am responsible for coming up with a solution and converting that to a 3D model in Solidworks. From there I either produce the prototype within our workshop, which has a metal lathe, CNC router, Mill, MIG and TIG welders, hand tools and other machinery, or I send it out to be produced from the engineering drawings. In my spare time I enjoy fishing, boating, motorcycle riding and 3D modelling/printing. I am currently designing up a nitro engine and turbo for an RC car which I’d like to build myself using a pocket NC 5-axis mill.I’d like to get into sustainable living with aquaponics/aeroponics and other farming styles that use a smaller footprint which can be sustainable for the average individual. I’m in the prototype stage, but I plan to set up a larger scale (contain in an average house) that can provide a family of four.
